Outfitting a New Industrial Office

Peckham Industries delivers high-quality customized solutions to thousands of road construction, highway maintenance, and building construction customers. Since it’s founding in 1924, Peckham has remained a family-run business. Over the years, they have expanded their service area to encompass operations throughout eastern New York and western New England.  In 2019 they moved their headquarters from White Plains to Brewster, NY.

When it came to furnishing their new headquarters, Peckham worked with Jefferson for the design and furniture selection of their workstations, cubicles, private offices, conference room, and pantry furnishings.

Reception Area

As you walk into Peckham Industrial’s headquarters, you can’t miss how stone accents from the feature wall behind the reception desk and beside the elevators, along with the polished concrete floors, set Peckham’s industrial brand. A historical wall of photos in the main hallway portrays Peckham’s growth since its founding almost 100 years ago. Jefferson complemented the look with minimalist leather upholstered benches with wire legs.

Boardroom

Off the main hallway is an impressive boardroom with floor-to-ceiling windows that look down to the cafeteria and pantry and out the massive windows to the outdoor patio.

The Jefferson Group utilized Via Seating’s best-selling conference room chair, Proform®, with the diamond stitch pattern to compliment Peckham’s boardroom conference table. The height-adjustable ratchet backs pair well with a proprietary injection-molded comfort waterfall-edge foam seat and cantilevered polished aluminum arms padded with a black polyurethane cap.

Attached along the wall is a 108″ floating Cherry Credenza from Halcon with clean edge doors, adjustable shelves, and metal trim. In front of the window is beautiful bench seating that seamlessly integrates with adjacent sideboard storage. The Halcon Halo Bench & Storage is ideal for conference room gallery seating as well as a showcase for the numerous vintage cast-iron mechanical banks and statuette collections.

The cafeteria features a stunning two-story-tall rock accent wall complemented by full-height windows allowing light into the cafe and the boardroom. In addition, the cafeteria includes two Versteel “Maker” bar-height tables and four Grand Rapids “Cassandra” tables with Grand Rapids “Sadie” chairs and bar stools.

The Maker table is constructed with 2″ square steel tubes and offers “serious” mobility with heavy-duty, locking, industrial grade swivel casters, making versatile space utilization easy and adaptable. The overall style reveals the inherent beauty of welding and raw metal in a process that embodies fabrication.

Office Workstations

The modular furniture solution, Inscape System, is used in the main work area to provide rows of workstation cubicles, each with open case shelving and under-bench filing. Jefferson recommends the Inscape System due to the simplicity of the welded frame structure, providing an intelligent solution to cable management. The absence of baseplates, apertures, and corner posts eliminates barriers that restrict the routing of cables. Cabling may be routed vertically and horizontally throughout the panel because they lay in cable managers that easily install between panel crossrails throughout the framework.

The panel frames feature 1.5″ of height adjustment allowing air to circulate under panels and throughout the office. The sturdy 3.5″ dual-tone workstation panels with glass privacy top dividers allow workers privacy in their work areas with minimal distractions while still keeping an open, airy office feel.

Peckham selected the OFS Harpin Guest chair, and the VIA Genie Ergonomics Task chair with red or black mesh back inserts for seating.

Private Offices and Conference Rooms

The CEO’s corner office is open and airy, with an OFS Staks L-shaped private office desk area, with height-adjustable primary work surface, mobile box/file ped, 2-drawer lateral file cabinet, tack board, and modesty panel. The CFO’s office was furnished similarly, without the round meeting table and guest chairs.

Seven additional private offices are furnished with OFS Staks L-shaped private office desks with fixed height work-surfaces but otherwise similarly furnished to the C-Suite offices. The conference and meeting rooms also have the Via Genie Ergonomics Task Chairs.

Through Peckham’s commitment to building strong customer relationships, they have become one of the largest family highway construction and road maintenance material suppliers in the northeastern United States. Their furnished new headquarters will support their growth and teams for years to come.
